How To Stop Being Powerless About Money with Mel Dorman

How To Stop Being Powerless About Money with Mel Dorman

SHOW NOTES

You know that feeling when money seems like this big, mysterious force that other people understand but you somehow missed the memo? That was my guest, Mel Dorman, author, real estate investor, and self-described financial activist, who went from living in the slums of Kolkata to building a seven-million-dollar real estate portfolio. Wild, right?

But this isn’t one of those “grind harder” stories. Mel started out as a social worker who believed that being broke meant being good. They actually practiced what they called financial celibacy, opting out of capitalism on moral grounds until life smacked them with a wake-up call. When their dad got sick and needed $7,000 a month in care, Mel realized that staying small and “pure” wasn’t helping anyone. That moment flipped everything.

Mel learned that money isn’t dirty; it’s neutral. And when you use it consciously, it can create freedom for everyone. We talk about how they built financial literacy from scratch, started investing through a strategy called seller financing (basically, cutting out the banks and keeping money circulating in the community), and why the real transformation wasn’t in the dollars; it was in the mindset.

Even if you never want to touch real estate, you’ll get so much out of this conversation. Because this is really about power, purpose, and possibility. It’s about rewriting the story that money is evil and learning to see it as a tool for impact. And yes, there’s some woo-woo in there too.

Grab your earbuds and get ready to feel a whole lot more empowered about your financial future.

WHAT’S INSIDE:

  • How Mel went from social worker to millionaire investor using seller financing
  • Why rejecting money doesn’t make you moral; it keeps you small
  • The mindset shift that turned financial guilt into empowerment
  • Real examples of creating wealth that benefits your whole community

What does “riching” right look like to you? Is it buying the most expensive bag—or being so financially free you can give away more money than you keep? Changing the world while changing your own life? Look, that could be you. If this conversation got you thinking differently about what wealth really means, come tell me about it on Instagram. I’d love to hear what “financial freedom” looks like for you.

Episode 112: Why We Should All Be Millionaires with Rachel Rodgers

EPISODE 112:

Why We Should All Be Millionaires with Rachel Rodgers

SHOW NOTES

This episode is such a banger that I had to bring it back. When I first aired this conversation with Rachel Rodgers, author of We Should All Be Millionaires and Future Millionaire, you guys blew up my inbox with DMs and comments. Clearly, it hit a nerve. So if you missed it the first time (Ep 93) or just want to get re-inspired, here’s your chance to soak it all in again.

Rachel is a total powerhouse who’s made it her mission to help women step into their financial power. And not in a “just make a vision board” kind of way. We’re talking boundaries, negotiating, side hustles, and shifting your whole damn money story.

We dig into the difference between “Broke Boo” (the woman doing it all for everyone and never getting ahead) and “Rich Boo” (the woman with boundaries, support systems, and a bank account that reflects her worth). Spoiler: Rich Boo is having a much better time.

Rachel also breaks down why hard work alone won’t build wealth, why risk is essential, and how you can start finding opportunities to create income right now—even if you’re juggling kids, a full-time job, or a Netflix addiction. By the end of this replay, you’ll remember exactly why this episode had everyone talking.

WHAT’S INSIDE:

  • Why women need to stop giving away time, energy, and labor for free
  • The Broke Boo vs. Rich Boo framework and how it plays out in real life
  • Why wealth is built on creativity and risk, not just hard work
  • Practical mindset shifts that open the door to financial freedom

So here’s my challenge for you. If money wasn’t the thing holding you back, what dream would you go after first? DM me on Instagram and let’s talk about it.

Episode 64: Wealth Skills for Women with Ann Wilson

EPISODE 64:

EPISODE 64:

Wealth Skills for Women with Ann Wilson

Wealth Skills for Women with Ann Wilson

SHOW NOTES

Are you a badass investor with a financial plan worth bragging about? You’re gonna love Ann Wilson.
Are your knees shaking at the mere thought of opening your banking app to check your balance? Well, you’re really gonna love Ann Wilson.

My guest, Ann, is The Wealth Chef. Her journey started back in her 20s, when she was drowning in debt.

She was living the life many of us are familiar with: money comes in, money goes out, and all the while assuming the job will always be there to keep it coming. (Cue Proud Mary: “Workin’ for the man every night and day.”)

Ann shares the money dynamics from her childhood, a societal structure that persists even today. Women are often socialized to manage short-term finances—nurturing the day-to-day budget—while long-term investments and planning are reserved for the masculine energy in the household.

But guess what, ladies?? We can do the investing too! We sure as hell don’t need to be rescued.

So, blonde money baddie Ann stepped into the world of finance bros and started learning about assets and investing.

But it’s more than just assets—it’s about defining what you want and taking the steps to get there. Financial freedom means making choices, staying committed, and sticking to a structure.

Listen, maybe you’re great at making money but not so great at keeping it. The key to understanding financial planning is this: you don’t have to, you get to. And once you make that choice, it’s incredibly liberating.

If the thought of getting started makes you shudder, take a deep breath and scream WTF!!! (Wow, That’s Fascinating). It’s time to get curious, take a look, and, lucky for you, Ann has generously offered a free gift to help you do just that!

WHAT’S INSIDE:

  • Transform your financial future, the way YOU want.
  • The ins and outs of financial planning.
  • Challenging societal norms around money; Mom can invest too!
  • A Free Gift from Ann, to get started on accepting the challenge.

Ann had so many great things to say!! And how powerful it is that we get to choose our financial future, whatever that looks like? What was your biggest takeaway? Let me know on Insta!
