Goal: How To Grow The Fuck Up with Sarah Knight

SHOW NOTES

Somehow advice feels better when it comes with a swear word or two and Sarah Knight’s sweary self-help books spare no swear.

No, she’s not a bitch or a teenager giving her finger to the world. She’s got wisdom to share and despite the title or the frequent F bombs, her books are friendly, funny, and practical.

Sarah has a collective of 6 books in her No Fucks Given Guide, with her newest, GROW THE FUCK UP: How to be an Adult and Get Treated Like One, debuting this week.

When it comes to adulting it’s not all about not giving a fuck…sometimes you have to. (like when it comes to your job that pays for your food and roof or whatever).

It’s about the proper allocation fucks. Used sparingly and purposefully, those fucks can lead your way to what Sarah calls the 3 Pillars of Adulting: Maturity, Responsibility, and Accountability.

Whether you’re a big fucking baby or a “theoretical” grown up…Sarah’s book will guide you with love and swears to become the Total Fucking Grown Up I know you can be.

Tune in to begin your journey to adulting, and bring your fucks.

SHOW NOTES

*sniff, sniff* Does anyone smell that? The overwhelming stench of bullsh*t up in here?

If you’re tuning in, get ready for a loving b*tch slap.

I’m talking about excuses and while there are many aromas *see my book or DM me on Insta for more on that*. The particular one I've seen clouding up the room lately? Victim mentality.

That energy (BIG VIC ENERGY) that gets you stuck in those woe-is-me stories and holds you back from meeting your challenges.

It’s actually when we are pushed to our physical limits when we find out our true reactions, so what’s yours?

If you wanna meet your goals, you're gonna have to get uncomfortable. I know I know, you’re cozy in that bed made of soft excuses. But despite what you’re telling yourself, that's the opposite of self-compassion.

Self-compassion is actually allowing yourself to grow and accept the challenge. That’s Hero Energy.

So lean in to find out what to look for when you're approaching victim energy, and how to stop it in its tracks!

I promise it won’t hurt (actually no. I don’t.)

WHAT’S INSIDE:

  • A loving b*tch slap from Oognah.
  • How to sniff out the victim energy that's holding you back.
  • Self-compassion is the opposite of excuse-making energy.
  • How to step into your hero energy.

What thoughts happen when you meet you’re pushed to your physical limits? How are you gonna beat victim energy?

Goal: Connect with Friends Before We All Die with Barry Friedman

Goal: Connect with Friends Before We All Die with Barry Friedman

SHOW NOTES

No regrets dude, what a goal!

Barry Friedman was just a regular teenage guy until one day at camp changed his life. He learned to juggle and a realization that "life isn't gonna suck anymore" smacked him right in the face. (I think we’d all take THAT smack in the face)

Think this sounds crazy? You’re not alone…but seriously he took that juggling talent and made a career out of it. Becoming a world champion with performances on TV and conferences galore.

If that doesn’t seem impressive enough, In 2012, Barry took another risk by quitting sugar and never looked back. He wrote a book about his sugar-free journey and preaches the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.

Now 60 and in great shape (who knew juggling kept you jacked), Barry is taking time for other life pursuits.

Listen in for some contagious inspiration!

WHAT’S INSIDE:

  • Barry Friedman: Juggling Superstar.
  • The power of Plan A (secret: it’s your only plan).
  • You only have one life, why going sugar-free isn't deprivation.
  • Turn 60 in 2022, what’s the reality?

How are you designing a life of no regrets?

Grit: How to Embrace the Suck

Grit: How to Embrace the Suck

SHOW NOTES

Something a little different today…we’re doing an excerpt from one of my trainings for the Feel Good Life Design course and as I was reviewing, 2 thoughts hit me.

  1. Oh my god, this is exactly what I’ve been talking about in my podcast.
  2. Damn, this is good shit. *woot-woot*

So, let’s talk about the suck (the dips, the fuck-it’s, the loops…yada yada yada). The part where you’re not on track to reach those goals you really do care about.

Are you looking at your life like a runaway train you have no control over? Are you waiting for the magic Monday that never comes?

Dude stop. The suck is important. It’s part of your natural path to success.

If you’ve reached the step to set or even consider new goals, the three reasons I share in this episode about strength, happiness, and growth are no-brainer motivators.

So get going!

Who loves the suck? We do!

WHAT’S INSIDE:

  • The suck..it’s part of the process.
  • 3 Reasons you should love the suck.
  • The benefit of a growth mindset.
  • Perception vs. reality when it comes to effort.

Do you fall victim to *falling off the wagon*? How are you gonna embrace the suck on the path to your goals?

Woo Woo Shit: Trying to Cure Cancer with Crystals and Other Disasters with Rachel Matlow

Woo Woo Shit: Trying to Cure Cancer with Crystals and Other Disasters with Rachel Matlow

SHOW NOTES

We’re getting into the Woo Woo Sh*t. If you asked Rachel Matlow, they’d say it's an emphasis on the SH*T.

When I learned of their mom’s passing, I was not into reading a book about it (who wants to read about dead moms!?) But I did…and as weird as it sounds, I was cracking up a few pages in.

Dead Mom Walking gets into what happens when you receive a serious health diagnosis and instead of following doctor recommendations, scientific evidence, and proven treatment plans…you put your faith in woo-woo cures like herbs and mindset.

Have you ever heard of cancer being cured by the power of positive thinking? If you ask Rachel, they will tell you no. absolutely. not.

Rachel reflects on the beautiful relationship with their mom while sharing some dangerous realizations about "Woo Woo Culture".

I talk about Woo Woo Sh*t a lot on the podcast (helloooo, see title). But there is a time, place, and approach to go about using that in a healthy, non-harming way.

If you're skeptical of the woo, can empathize with Rachel about the passing of a parent, or even if you just want a comical read about death and life, check out their book, Dead Mom Walking: A Memoir of Miracle Cures and Other Disasters.

WHAT’S INSIDE:

  • Can “Woo” actually be harmful?
  • Do things actually happen for a reason?
  • The power of belief…is it a cure-all?
  • Woo Vs Science in matters like health.
  • Rachel Matlow’s story behind the best-selling book, Dead Mom Walking.

What’s your take on the woo? Is it a miracle cure-all or should you leave it to the docs?
